Season 7 Episode 9!
"I felt like I had been run over by a car!"
This weeks guest is founder and CEO Apinke Efiong who joined me
to talk about her approach to wellbeing and her passion for
skincare borne from her own symptoms during peri-menopause.
Nigerian born now UK based Apinke, launched her brand Ekó
Botanicals in 2022, to fill a gap in the market for
high-performing wellness and skincare solutions for mid-life
women from her own personal journey of turning 40 and grappling
with a new set of skin and health concerns.
In 2024, Apinke was voted in the Top 25 of ‘Who’s Who in Natural
Beauty’ by Natural Beauty News, which recognises the organic
beauty sector’s leading personalities, and those driving change
and growth in the industry.
Apinke and I had a conversation that spanned her life and career
in finance through floristry and finally skincare to becoming a
wife, mother and CEO, moving into peri-menopause and the
lifestyle changes that it brought with it. We touched on:
> having to 'soldier through' her debilitating menstrual
cycle.
> the taboo of speaking on menopause
> how she got the menopause care that suits her.
> coming back to continue her grandfathers legacy in
botanicals.
> skincare and mindfulness for Black women.
and more...

Season 7 Episode 7!
St Vincentian, Michelle Hart is a solution focused
hypnotherapist and meditation teacher with over 20 years
experience within social care and the voluntary sector. She
witnessed firsthand the burnout and fatigue of the compassionate
women around her whose love and care for others did not always
stretch to themselves.
She has a passion for supporting midlife women to embrace this
stage of their lives, by getting curious about who they are now,
what they want and need so that they can bring more joy into
their lives with the understanding that they too are worthy of
the compassion they show to others.
We had a conversation about
> partial hysterectomy and fibroids
>the horrors of 'flooding' periods
> what exactly 'hypnotherapy' is
> unusual symptoms
> how she found her freedom
This is an uplifting conversation and and episode. that will give
hope to many. You're not going mad and you're not alone!
