#3 Gábor Arion Kudász – SHORTS

"Tropical Depression" combines the meteorological phenomenon of
destructive storms with the emotional turmoil of mental
depression, reflecting Gábor Arion Kudász personal and creative
struggles during a transformative stay in Vietnam, shaped by
literary influences, cultural encounters and the pressing
realities of environmental and societal crises. In this episode
of the Fotobus podcast, Antonia and Felix talk to Arion about his
new book and teaching photography.


Gábor Arion Kudász is a photographer and associate professor at
the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. His
work is a fusion of staged and documentary elements, delving into
themes of human presence, memory, and the interplay between
desire and technology. Kudász received multiple awards, showed
his work in exhibitions all over the world and published several
photobooks  


The episode was recorded during Paris Photo 2024 and is part of
the SHORTS format. Here, people involved in photography talk
about their careers, their work and their attitude to photography
in short interviews.

„Tropical Depression“ verbindet das zerstörerischer Stürme mit
dem emotionalen Aufruhr einer Depression und spiegelt Gábor Arion
Kudász persönliche und kreative Prozesse während eines prägenden
Aufenthalts in Vietnam wider, der von literarischen Einflüssen,
kulturellen Begegnungen und den akuten Umwelt- und
Gesellschaftskrisen geprägt ist. In dieser Folge des
Fotobus-Podcasts sprechen Antonia und Felix mit Arion über sein
neues Buch und das Unterrichten von Fotografie.


Gábor Arion Kudász ist Fotograf und Professor an der
Moholy-Nagy-Universität für Kunst und Design in Budapest. In
seinen Arbeiten verschmelzen inszenatorische und dokumentarische
Elemente, die sich mit Themen wie menschlicher Existenz,
Erinnerung und dem Zusammenspiel von Begierde und Technologie
auseinandersetzen. Kudász wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet, zeigte
seine Arbeiten in Ausstellungen auf der ganzen Welt und
veröffentlichte mehrere Fotobücher.


Die Episode wurde während der Paris Photo 2024 aufgenommen und
