In this episode of Making Dough Show, we share another shocking
and embarrassing story from one of our restaurants, emphasizing
the importance of caution and conducting background checks when
hiring. The story revolves around a staff member we will call
“John”, who had a parole officer and was revealed to be a sex
offender, leading to his dismissal.


The incident took us by surprise as we had no knowledge of John's
criminal background during his two months of employment. The
situation was further complicated by miscommunication, as the
manager initially stated that the parole officer wanted John to
quit without disclosing the actual reason.


From this experience, we learned three valuable lessons: the
world can be unpredictable, appearances can be deceptive, and
thorough background checks are crucial, especially when hiring
individuals who may interact with vulnerable groups.


By sharing this story, we aim to help others avoid similar
predicaments and learn from our mistakes. Conducting background
checks is essential, and there are numerous services available to
