Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?    Do you ever feel like you've totally
HAD it! You're doing all the right things - you're watching what
you eat, you started the diet, you're working out way more, and the
scale hasn't budged. What gives!? Well honestly there could be A
LOT of reasons that why this is the case but I believe in starting
with the most common and the easiest to tackle reason: you're
doing too much.    "No I'm NOT" you want to argue with
me!  "How could I possibly be doing too much, if I don't diet
and exercise I won't lose weight!" Yes, I'm familiar with this
argument, I've used it myself many times.     We've been
told our whole lives that eating less and working out more is the
only way to lose weight. Less calories in, more calories out is the
key.  Would it blow your mind if told you that sometimes
more calories in and LESS workouts are the key to getting your body
working right and long term weight loss that will STAY off?  
It's true and it's largely due to stress and cortisol.   You
see, a diet, no mater which one it is, is usually just a fancy form
of calorie restriction.  Not getting enough food puts your
body under tremendous stress.  Add on top of that all these
new strenuous workouts you're doing now to burn calories; more
stress to your body.  Then add to that all the other emotional
stress in your life, lack of sleep, poor hydration, use of
stimulants (coffee); stress, stress STRESS!  Your body under
chronic stress and chronically elevated cortisol levels begins to
burn itself out, your metabolism slows, you're more likely to store
fat especially around the midsection, and you're more at risk for
disorders and diseases of all types.  Well Crap!   In
this episode we're going to discuss these mechanisms, how sometimes
you have to SLOW DOWN TO SPEED UP and exactly HOW you can do that.
