11 Minuten lang kannst du wunderbar abtauchen in andere (Eis)welten.

A different no-guest podcast today. I´m developing my own style step by step. Sometimes I think of a great guest to have on the show and then I go back to following through an idea I have about a topic and the value it hopefully provides for you.

In this episode, I focus on...focus. And what it means to create it and what you can do to stay in your track. Because honestly, I struggle with it often. I can be super focused and not let anything distract myself. But then, one thought that makes me think that other thing is now more important than what I´m working on in that moment, takes over.

Since I´m working from home, this is a serious daily challenge and I know many people go through similar scenarios even when working in an office. So much can distract us these days. But if we can find the strength and gain more control over our habits again, question them and change them for the better, our lives do improve.

The three tips focus on practical steps you can take to feel a little happier and more contented about yourself and your life. Running is something that you can schedule, for example when usually during stressful moments, it would fall by the wayside because something else takes priority.

Let me help you brighten your path, start the day feeling energized and keeping the momentum throughout. Begin gently and if you want, start implementing one practical tip until you see the result and feel confident about the next steps.

I go deeper into my own routine and what I do when those moments of distraction come. Because they do and there is little or no way around it these days.

You will surprised about this one life-hack that helps you become detached from the need to be present 24/7.

And tomorrow, the world still goes around with you feeling a little happier. Watch your world change.

7 Tage. 4 Länder. 260 km.

Immer wieder kam etwas dazwischen.

Balance, a rather overused buzz word.

Aiming to help us with more ease and - balance.

But what is balance?

Pretty much all year, I´ve been in conflict with trying to keep and lead a balanced life.

Attempting to spend equal amounts of time on training, my business, family life and my relationship.

An impossible task to fulfil leading to burn-out, resentment and frustration.

Motivation for training sucked.

I became very impatient and couldn´t quite understand why.

I also didn´t want to give up my idea of needing to live a balanced life.

I picked up this idea years ago as a young mum of two children wanting to provide them a stable, solid life. Smooth sailing.

But strangely enough, the inner hunger and drive for something outside this concept drew me in part to ultra running and seriously undergoing some out-of-zone experiences. Deeply fulfilling me, giving me a sense of purpose.

The more I was fighting to keep my balance, the worse things got.

So I had to find a solution and totally re-think my definition of balance.

What came of it is the realization that balance screws me up and I believe, it has similar or the same effects on many people, specially athletes working so hard to keep the balance.

The truth is: It doesn´t work in the long run to keep everything under control.

Seeking balance causes the opposite.

The inner drive, the longing for something outside these contraints grows.

That´s when people say: I´m going to tackle a long distance race, to state one of the many ways.

And what you walk away with is a bag full of exciting, often raw experiences where you learn about yourself and how you roll.

Because it´s what matters. How you roll defines your actions. Break free from your very own concept and idea about balance. And use the tips I share with you to help you re-define your outlook on how you live, work, run and play.

To your success!

Viel Erfolg!

Eating and drinking in training and in races can be a real science.

If you decide to make it one.

Today, I´m shining the light on a topic that is on the one side, very individual and on the other, something where some guidelines can indeed work for most endurance athletes.

I share my personal experience from last week´s ultra marathon where I ran for 11 hours and put another experience in the books.

Where no stomach issues played a role.

Where I could perfectly sustain my energy levels.

Where I suffered from no headaches or swollen fingers.

Where I felt well -hydrated throughout.

Where I didn´t need solid foods and got my calories from using

one product only.

It works for you if you´re sensitive and often suffer from an upset stomach and energy lows.

Enjoy this episode.

Time to shake things up a bit in the best sense. After carefully observing the endurance running scene, talking to athletes and in my work as a coach it´s more than obvious that many people struggle to juggle their running training, recovery, relationships, health and careers. It is a huge undertaking if you´re an ambitious runner that wants to take performance to the next level.

Having been caught in the spiral of going through the motions myself in the past, I´m sharing the lessons I´ve learned and how essential it is for our health to create balance in life. The flood of information, wins and successes seemingly cursing the net 24/7, doesn´t help to stop and relax for a moment.

Often, there is pressure building up to do more, to train harder, to do better. And that´s human nature. But if the price is so high that you´re paying with your health, suffering from chronic niggles, pain or even injuries, the time is now to stop and learn to reconnect with the roots. That´s where I take you today as I talk about my learnings and share some personal stories of how I´ve managed (not mastered) to listen to my body more, recover faster and keeping the bigger picture in mind.

After all, nobody really cares. Who you are as a person on a day-to-day basis, and who you evolve into when running serves you, not crushes you, is so much more important than a podium finish. So how you do get to the point of not only building excellent health but sustaining it?

Enjoy this episode and share with me what you took away. And: How do you manage it all? What´s your most pressing issue and the solutions you´ve come up with to have more balance?

Just tell yourself a different story and you´ll feel confident?

Rings a bell in your head? So often we´re told to just be strong, good, showing up as the best when can be.

But what if you feel the opposite and all you want is hide? All those techniques just

don´t seem to work?

You doubt yourself, your abilities. And everyone else around you seems to be doing so much better than you.

You´re not the problem. And there is nothing wrong with you.

It´s our idea of what we think others think and expect of us that screws us up in our minds.

The key to true confidence is inside you.

I´m showing you ways to unlock your confidence and how you can master little challenges on a daily basis.

This is a different episode where I answer your most pressing questions on training, nutrition and mindset. All that concerns improving your life as an athlete.

I frequently get asked questions so I decided to answer them in a podcast instead in order to serve you better.

I could have gone on for much longer but decided to keep it with a couple of very specific questions.

Whether you´re new to running or already experienced, these tips on how to step up to the distance are going to help you build confidence, avoid burning out and staying committed.

This is a different kind of conversation. A talk about entrepreneurship, tackling difficult and challenging times in business, overcoming obstacles, building confidence, enduring in extreme rock and ice climbing and a quiet life in Ireland.

I invited a real power couple onto the show, Walt Hampton and Ann Sheybani. Both are highly successful entrepreneurs, endurance athletes and thought leaders.

I first „met“ Ann back in 2011. My first website on ultra marathon training had been up and running for about  year and she had sent me a really nice email in regards to an ebook I had written.

As I found out, she´s all about endurance, too. Not just in sports but in life.

In her early 30´s Ann broke free from a challenging and troublesome marriage in Iran where she had lived and raised her two daughters. After she began running her life fundamentally changed from the ground up along with her passion for writing.

Ann now runs her on- and offline business as a Book Yourself Solid sales and Marketing Certified Coach. She´s a harvard-trained writer, amazon best-selling author, writing workshop director and book bootcamp master sargent.

Walt helps entrepreneurs and professionals create the work and the lives they love. Lives filled with with purpose, passion and possibility. Lives filled with prosperity and peace; joy-filled lives so that they can re-claim for themselves freedom, fun and fulfillment.

Four years ago, Ann and Walt deciced to turn their backs on their busy lives in the US and now reside on the coast in Ireland where they enjoy a quiet life in between working, running, climbing the world´s highest summits and traveling back for their other businesses in the States.

Walt, acclaimed keynote speaker and writer, educated as trial attorney and founder of Summit Of Success and Book Yourself Solid – coach, author of „Journeys On The Edge“ – living a life that matter is also trained as a Tony Robbins Results Coach and teaches Michael Port’s Book Yourself Solid.

Busy and stressed you think?

It´s all about time mastery. Walt and Ann share their powerful routine that helps you stay in your lane and focused. Plus, this is a conversation about confidence, the slow and steady progress as entrepreneurs and what the main mistakes are that people make as they embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.

Having built four businesses from scratch, Walt claims: Focus will be the new currency of the economy.

If you want to live 11 years(!) longer, things must change. We need to shift from losing ourselves on social media and constantly checking emails to committing ourselves to our life goals and aligning those to the true purpose of our being and existence.

Enjoy the conversation.

We all are  uniquely different. Just how do your turn your strenghts into success?

What started as a fun run to shed some pounds lit the fire to evolve into a super accomplished extreme adventurer.

Looking at Richard Bowles, setting new standards in the world of extreme ultra mountain and trail running, you´d think it´s all genetics, talent and maybe luck to be able to pull off many world records.

But it´s that not in Richard´s eyes. When you look at him, he looks like a normal guy. In truth, he most likely is but with a radically different view pushing for progress every day.

One of many big surprises is that he doesn´t even consider himself a runner or feels particularly passionate about running. But why would anybody voluntarily push himself and run over 26,550,000 steps during numerous running projects and going for new world records?

The why is difficult to answer and Richard was so intrigued by the questions he kept getting that he took a brake and searched for the answer for a year. Only to find out, it´s simpler than you think.

What´s left inside you when you´re out there on often very secluded trails pushing yourself with every step often for days and weeks with only small rests in between, passion or talent is not going to pull you along.

It´s the power of the mind which everybody has got access to. And Richard is truly obsessed with how to work his mind inside out. He has run across the longest marked trails in the world, amongst them the Bicentennial National Trail in Australia covering a distance of 5,330 km, the Te Araroa Trail in New Zealand with a distance of 3, 054 km and the 1,009 km long National Trail in Israel, just to name a few.

When it comes to personal growth and development, he knows no limit and endures in outrageously and often dangerous challenges helping him to strip down to the core, striving to become a better person every day.

But there is also that side beyond constantly progressing and pushing about him. In our conversation, he wasn´t shy to talk about sex and what turned the coin for him, when a farmer stuck a gun in his mouth ready to shoot him.

Richard shares valuable insights about his day-to-day life and gives mindset tips how you can stay on your tracks when you lose motivation and bridging the gap between giving up and continuing to try and accomplish your goals.

When he´s not running and planning his next crazy adventure, Richard rocks the stages all over Australia and Asia as a keynote speaker for big companies delivering the tools to change your life and ultimately feel more in control of your decision.

It seems there is only black and white in his world. And maybe it´s what brought him to where he is. Just a normal guy doing what he´s best at without allowing anything to stop him from accomplishing his goals.

Anne-Marie Flammersfeld – how a simple idea helped her rise to winning the Desert Grand Slam Title and going beyond your wildest imagination.

I´ve heard of Anne-Marie in a magazine article years ago. She had just won the Grand Slam title and made it into the club of the first German woman ever to finish all four Racing The Planet desert races within one year. Not only that, she won every single race of the series without ever having had an ultra marathon running experience before.

Talking to Anne-Marie felt like talking to a good friend. Her warm-heartedness, humour and outgoing persona is infectious. In this conversation, she talks about her background in ballsports and what set her heart on fire for running. She goes deep into what triggers her to perform on such a high level and what supports her self-belief in faith. If you think it´s about sheer talent and physical training, Anne-Marie proves this wrong.

It was first during a trip in Argentina that she met a Norwegian guy and the crazy idea to participate in the Racing The Planet series was born. Anne-Marie never just simply wants to run a race. With a clear goal in mind, she´s tackled the most grueling mountain and trail races world wide since 2012.  She´s driven to discover new places inside and outside of herself.  Moving in nature being an essential part in her life, Anne-Marie is tireless in her pursuit to explore unknown territory.

She´s found a deep passion in her bottom-up project which she talks about in-depth as well as her passion to make the world a better place for children in need.

Anne-Marie isn´t purely an athlete. As a sports scientist with her own coaching and training business in the high mountains of St.Moritz in Switzerland, she´s committed to help others rise to be their best, to live in the moment and making the most of life every day by trusting and following your innate instincts.

At almost 40, she´s nowhere near the end of her ultra running career. If anything, she´s full of ideas and plans for the future, feeling called to turn another simple idea into a bigger vision.

Please enjoy this conversation on the power of the mind, dealing with post-race depression and strategies you can apply to your life to reach your goals.

It´s been another great episode of my podcast, filled with so many insights on entrepreneuership and persisting on the journey to turning passion into profession. Bryon Powell, former attorney in Washington D.C. quit his stable 9-5 to go on a quest to dedicate his time, energy and money to serving the fast-growing community of ultra marathoners worldwide. He´s a writer, author of two books, competitive ultra marathoner with over 65 races under his belt with the 400 kilometre Gobi Ultra Trail Race being one of his greatest achievements and founder of the highly popular online platform irunfar.com, the world´s biggest and most respected ultra running community to this day.

It´s a conversation about patience and persistence, ongoing motivation, focusing on the bigger vision and how to deal with obstacles on the path.

Full of surprises („I never had a plan“), laughter, humour, warm-heartedness and generosity getting down to the core why he wouldn´t stop to continue what he does, Bryon explains what impact his work continues to have on his life, his community and the relationship with his partner and accomplished ultra runner Meghan Hicks.

He openly talks about the defining moments of being on the verge of quitting and what can keep you going during the tough times. He´s super uncomplicated, funny, open and relaxed offering a relaxed approach to nutrition (another surprise). An example of somebody who´s not chasing for the big bucks and looking for his own benefit but serving his greater purpose.

No doubt, he´s achieved this over the almost last decade. I´m delighted and super grateful that Bryon took two hours of his time before he signed off to head out for a 50 k training run. That´s right. Things shift when you begin to crave running longer distances and 50 k becomes an easy thing to tackle. Enjoy the episode and share what you think and took away.
