who had Behavioral FrontoTemporal Lobe Dementia, she transformed
her experience into a career dedicated to supporting both
individuals with dementia and the caregivers who care for them.She
went on to become a sought-after dementia educator, training both
family and professional caregivers in best practices for
compassionate care. Allyson also helped launch an educational
initiative at the University of Washington to improve how
healthcare professionals diagnose and support people living with
dementia.Her work has earned national recognition. In 2020, she
received a Maude’s Award for Innovation in Alzheimer’s Care and was
named Visionary Caregiver of the Year by Caregiving.com. She also
serves on the Washington State Dementia Action Collaborative, where
she facilitates spousal support groups and lectures on caregiving
topics.
