The Unforgiving Servant // Parables // May 07, 2023

One of my favorite parables because none of us can escape this
one. We all have a bit of the unforgiving servant in us. Jesus
tells the story of a man forgiven of a mountain of debt which he
could never pay off in a hundred lifetimes. But here is where it
gets interesting, the man once set free, finds someone who is
indebted to him for a minuscule amount by comparison and he
orders the man into jail until he pays him ever last cent. I
think we all do this at times. We’ve been forgiven so much, a
mountain of sins and what do we do? We turn around and are
unwilling to forgive someone of a few sins. Followers of Christ,
we are called to forgive the way Jesus forgave us.
