Today, I speak with IFBB Pro Mahsa Akbarimehr, who was the first
Persian female to become an IFBB Bikini Pro in June of 2018! She
started her fitness journey back in her home country of Iran as a
multi sport athlete competing in swimming, water Polo and rowing.
The youngest of three girls, her mom and dad were a big part in who
she today. They were always encouraging my sisters and I to play
sports, be active and competitive growing up. She started weight
training in college, where she earned a bachelor degree in Computer
Science engineering. After college, she won a U.S green card
lottery and decided to make the move in 2011 to United States. She
joined a Gold’s gym and learned about the NPC/IFBB.

In April 2015, she decided to compete in her first bodybuilding
Bikini competition and placed first in her class. When she became
U.S citizen, she was finally able to compete in national shows
and won her pro card at her second national show.  She
now lives in Hawaii and works with clients, sharing her
knowledge, experience, physical and mental journeys with them.

Mahsa’s story is one we don’t get to hear too often. Be sure to
give it a listen!

Topics covered include:
-breaking culture barriers
-posing with personality
-improving the post-show experience
-working with judges’ feedback
-changes in training style
-having an athletic background
-bodybuilding in Iran
-deciding to leave Iran
-working as a trainer
-the importance of community
