Reels are an important feature on Meta 's social media platforms
and the company has decided to change the Reels video length
limit to attract users.
Meta considers Reels as an important feature in its
applications. The social networking platform is rolling out
a number of innovations to the Reels format
on Facebook to attract users at a time when short video
formats like Reels and TikTok are dominating the cyber
space.
Facebook is extending the maximum duration of a Reels on the
platform to 90 seconds, up from 60 seconds. Meta increased
Instagram's one Reels time limit to 90 seconds last July, but
neither of those compare to the maximum video length on TikTok,
which is currently 10 minutes long.
TikTok and Instagram Reels both have different ways to sync clips
with a song, and Facebook Reels has a similar feature called
Grooves.
Meta says the feature uses "intuitive beat technology" and it
automatically synchronizes and aligns movement in the video to
the beat of the song.
Facebook will also provide an easy way to create Reels from
users' past posts and Stories. They will also be able to
take advantage of trending and recommended video templates by
Facebook. This allows users to replace clips from an
existing template with clips of their own.
