Feb 9th For this week's You Are Hear, Jim Backhouse
trawls the knotted undergrowth of early electronic music for more
astringent blasts of analogue synth-blatt, elaborate tape
manipulation and the sounds of visionary inventors struggling
with primitive technologies: from the pioneering soundworks of
Daphne Oram, founder of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop to the
precocious bleeps and squawks of some US High School Students let
loose in the electronic music lab. Mika Vainio also brings us a
genuinely terrifying sliver of noise from his new album 'Revitty'
which sounds reminiscent of being torn limb-from-limb by a shoal
of bloodthirsty sharks; Adam Bohman offers sage advice to the ill
and lovelorn, and besides that we have plenty more psychedelic,
electronic, home-made, DIY, perverse, collective karma for you to
bug out to. Enjoy!
