It’s been a year of testing so much for all of us.
Bernie and I catch up on how we’re making it through parenting
and trying to stay distant (and connected) during COVID, which is
relentless.
We also discuss the election stress, our self care plans, and why
we need to “complete our stress cycles” — something we learned by
reading the book Burnout by Emily and Amelia Nagoski.
Get a replay of some key advice from our podcast chat on Body
Shame Burnout with the authors originally aired in May 2019,
including how the Patriarchy keep “human giver syndrome” and the
“bikini industrial complex” alive and well — and oppressing you,
making you stressed, sick, and spiraling toward Burnout.

Are: The surprising new science that will transform your sex

therapists, medical professionals, college students, and the
general public about the science of women’s sexual wellbeing.
Amelia Nagoski, D.M.A. (it stands for Doctorate of Musical Arts),
is Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Music at Western New
England University. Her job is to run around waving her arms and
making funny noises and generally doing whatever it takes to help

About BernieBernie Salazar is a recovering
chronic dieter and former contestant on Season 5 of NBC’s The
Biggest Loser. Realizing that you can’t hate yourself healthy,
Bernie has been a student of the body kindness philosophy for
over three years. You can follow his journey to self-acceptance
on the Body Kindness Learn & Grow series where, under the
guidance of his mentor and friend Rebecca Scritchfield, RDN he’s
worked to unpack both his experience on and off the Biggest
Loser. Finally embracing that his true, happy and healthy self
was always meant to have a fat body, he encourages others to
practice body kindness and work to heal our relationships with
ourselves.
Most recently, he’s co-founded Uniting Soles, a shoe company with
a conscious, where he is working to unite souls with Soles.
Witnessing first hand how providing a person a helping hand, can
help to transform their current situation; Bernie is committed to
serving others. No longer able to stand idly by as families are
being separated at our southern borders, he’s co-founded Uniting
Soles to assist organizations in reuniting families and to
provide aid to those groups fighting for immigration law reform
and family reunification.
