Interviewing Mustafa Ghouse, CEO of JSW Sports, the sports
vertical of the JSW group—the Indian multinational conglomerate
company, based in Mumbai. Appointed as CEO in 2012, and with the
inception of JSW Sports aimed initially at supporting Indian
Olympic athletes through the creation of a funding program for
the lead up to the 2016 Rio Olympics, and an additional youth
development program targeting Indian athletes in the crucial
years between the ages of 12 - 18, providing them with the right
exposure, training and advice, Mustafa and the team have been
working, and successfully so, towards maximizing the sporting
potential of Indian athletes. Since then JSW Sports has added
teams in the Indian Premier League, Pro-Kabaddi League and Indian
Super League to its portfolio. As a former professional tennis
player and with his experience in sports management and a deep
passion for the sports world, Mustafa has identified the need to
push and encourage a culture of sports in India, introducing a
more structured approach to sporting events, increasing access to
both athletes and spectators, creating a clear vision for the
trajectory of athletes and teams, and establishing ties between
the sport and corporate worlds. Recently moving into the
SportsTech scene, JSW Sports has also launched its accelerator
program, aimed at supporting a variety of startups existing
within the intersection of the sports and tech spheres. Tune in
to learn more about the man behind the company and the many
branches they’ve established at JSW Sports.
