What a sweet and sincere statement. But why is it that we can
turn it around and make it sound like there's strings attached?

My sweetheart echoes that loudly while I was packing and getting
ready for vacation.


In a millisecond, I had twisted the statement to be all about
what he wanted from me.


Not ever did I pause long enough to hear his concern and
sweetness in the statement.


Oh no!! I was the one being judgmental expecting him to ramble
off what he needed from me.


However, he was truly in it for me.


How much are you twisting your spouse's statements? Are you
assuming one meaning, when your spouse is expressing another
meaning?


This can get us all in a lot of trouble in our marriages (in
fact, in any relationship)!


What can you do to hear the heart of your spouse?
The K.I.S.S. ~ Listen with no assumptions!

We are too quick to put words in our spouse's mouth. So one must
learn to listen with no assumptions.
Be grateful for the communication. Be present in the shared
moments. Connect the words spoken.
