A passion for giving back to humanity

Today's guest is Claudia Wheeler a United States Navy Veteran, an
Elementary school teacher, founder of SALT Foundation, Inc., and a
Russ Berrie Honoree which is from the Russ Berrie Making a
Difference Award. The Late Russell Berrie started the foundation in
1985 because Russell had a passion for giving back to humanity! The
Russ Berrie Making a Difference Award has been recognizing
changemakers in N.J. for 27 years!
Claudia Wheeler discusses being a teacher, and how she started the
non-profit SALT Foundation Inc. in 2017 which is a volunteer effort
to provide food and supplies to food pantries, shelters,
organizations, and churches. This volunteer effort rescues four
tons of food weekly! The top contributors are Walmart, Trader
Joe's, and Wegmans. Claudia discusses how she found out that she
was nominated and how she felt receiving the award and the support
from past honorees and the wonderful honorees for 2023 who are
making a difference in their communities! Claudia also was GoFundMe
Hero of the Month in August 2021. Betsy recommends going on the
