If you're going back to the Law, Jesus isn't going with

Hebrews - because Jews and Gentiles alike feel the tug of
rules and commandments. Maybe it's pride that tempts us to
"add our good deeds" to the finished work of Christ. Maybe
we like to sit in judgment of others who don't check the
