Documentation of an interview with four people from the group
„Palestinians and Jews for Peace“, which we recorded on 25.10.23
in Cologne.
On 22 October 2013, a group of Palestinian and Jewish friends
called for a demonstration for peace in Cologne. Radio Nordpol
documents the interview with the group „Palestinians and Jews for
Peace“ from 25 October in order to make this rather rare position
in the Middle East conflict audible, which condemns both the
terror of Hamas on 7 October and the enormous violence of the
Israeli government.


The interview is divided into three parts:
in the first part, the four talk about their origins, why and how
they founded the group,
the second part is primarily about the Antisemitism and racism
they experience as Jews, Israelis and people with a Palestinian
and Arab background after 7 October and how violent they perceive
the situation in Germany.
The third part focuses on the media’s handling of the topic, how
the term „peace“ also attracts unwanted guests to the demo, how
the group demarcates itself from this and what hope can look like
from their perspective.
The interview took place on 25 October 2023 in Cologne and is in
English.


The next demo will take place on Sunday, 19 November in
Cologne.

Dokumentation eines Interviews mit vier Personen der Gruppe
„Palestinians and Jews for Peace“, das wir am 25.10.23 in Köln
geführt haben.
Am 22.10.23 rief eine Gruppe palästinensischer und jüdischer
Freund*innen in Köln zu einer Demonstration für Frieden auf.
Radio Nordpol dokumentiert das Interview mit der Gruppe
„Palestinians and Jews for Peace“ vom 25.10., um diese bisher
eher seltene Position im Nahost-Konfikt hörbar zu machen, die
sowohl den Terror der Hamas vom 7. Oktober als auch die enorme
Gewalt der israelischen Regierung verurteilt.


Das Gespräch ist in drei Teile geteilt:
im ersten Teil reden die vier über ihre Herkunft, warum und wie
sie die Gruppe gegründet haben,
im zweiten Teil geht es vor allem um den Antisemitismus und
Rassismus, den sie als Jüdinnen, Israelis und Menschen mit
palästinensischem und arabischen Background nach dem 7.10.
erfahren und wie gewaltvoll sie die Situation in Deutschland
empfinden.
Im dritten Teil liegt der Fokus auf dem medialen Umgang mit der
Thematik, wie der Begriff „Frieden“ auch unerwünschte Gäste auf
die Demo zieht, wie die Gruppe sich davon abgrenzt und wie
Hoffnung aus ihrer Perspektive aussehen kann.
Das Interview fand am 25.Oktober 2023 in Köln statt und ist auf
englischer Sprache.
