MIDNIGHT REWIND: Akira (1988)

It is time for our third installment in our Midnight Rewind
segment! This week, we are discussing possibly the greatest anime
of all-time: Katsuhiro Ôtomo's 1988 masterpiece Akira!


The year is 2019. 31 years after being destroyed during World War
III on July 16th, 1988, Tokyo (now 'Neo-Tokyo') has been rebuilt
and is a thriving metropolis. 


Shōtarō Kaneda is the leader of a biker gang. His friend Tetsuo
is injured in an accident and taken to a top-secret government
facility. After developing uncontrollable telekinetic powers,
Tetsuo turns against his friends and the city.
