This week on NEWS.MC TV: Monaco welcomes a new Minister of State,
celebrates sport and sustainability, and reflects on legacy and
innovation

A new chapter in Monegasque politics begins as Christophe Mirmand
is appointed Monaco’s Minister of State. The former prefect and
high-ranking French official will take the oath of office on July
21 before Prince Albert II. Mirmand brings decades of
administrative experience, including key posts in Corsica,
Brittany, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, and most recently
served as Chief of Cabinet at France’s Ministry for Overseas
Territories.

Over at Port Hercule, the 19th edition of the Longines Global
Champions Tour galloped into action on July 3, drawing Monaco’s
royal family and equestrian fans alike. The weekend culminated in
the Prince’s Prize Grand Prix, where forty of the world’s finest
riders tackled a formidable course. A French victory topped off
an electric weekend of elite show jumping.

On the legal front, Monaco is sharpening its tools in the ongoing
fight against money laundering. Following its inclusion on the
FATF grey list in 2024, the Principality has invested in
intensive training for magistrates and legal professionals. A
30-hour course concluded on July 4, reinforcing Monaco’s
commitment to robust financial transparency.

Meanwhile, artificial intelligence took centre stage at the
Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, which wrapped up on July 5. More
than 1,000 students from around the world converged to showcase
sustainable marine innovations. AI-powered vessels impressed in
slalom, acceleration, and endurance events, pushing the
boundaries of what 100% clean energy yachts can do.

July 5 also saw the opening of a moving new exhibition in the
Prince’s Palace grand apartments. Simply titled “Grace,” the
exhibit offers an intimate portrayal of Princess Grace, moving
beyond the Hollywood glamour to highlight her compassion,
resilience, and deeply personal legacy.

Monaco shimmered in black and white at the annual Fight Aids gala
on July 6, held at the iconic Sporting Hall of Stars. Themed
after Jean-Jacques Goldman, the event brought together artists,
philanthropists and friends of the Principality in solidarity
against HIV/AIDS.

Gastronomy got its turn in the spotlight as 20 chefs were
inducted at the 56th Grand Cordon d’Or Gala of French Cuisine on
July 7. Hosted at Le Méridien Beach Plaza, the evening was a
celebration of French culinary excellence, innovation, and
tradition.

The power of art and science collided at the “Demain, l’Océan?”
exhibition, which Prince Albert II inaugurated on July 8. Hosted
at the Quai Antoine-Ier Exhibition Hall, the show challenges
visitors to confront the threats facing our oceans through
contemporary artworks that are as visually stunning as they are
sobering.

Royal engagements continued the following day, as the Princely
family travelled to the historic County of Carlades on July 9.
Princess Gabriella — who bears the title Countess of Carlades —
received a warm welcome, inaugurating several landmarks named in
her honour and charming locals with grace and curiosity (and
reportedly, one very lucky squirrel).

AS Monaco FC made a splash in the transfer market, unveiling Paul
Pogba, Ansu Fati and Eric Dier as new signings on July 3. The
trio's arrival marks a bold move by the club as it eyes success
on domestic and European fronts this season.

And finally, this week’s exclusive interview features Chloé
Boscagli, Head of Monaco’s Attractiveness Unit and Director of
Monaco Private Label. We sat down with her to discuss Monaco’s
evolving appeal to global investors, the strategy behind the
Principality’s international image, and how luxury, diplomacy,
and innovation intersect in modern nation-branding.
