The virtue of Humility, in Ultima lore and in real life, is one
of the more difficult virtues to describe. In fact, it is often
easier to analyze by looking at what it is not, rather than at
what it is.

Saint Josemaria Escriva, in life a Catholic priest, was a
philosopher who mused quite a lot on the concept of Humility, and
in one of his “Furrows” (writings), he put forth a list of signs
of a lack of humility. The seventeen points on this list will
form the basis of this Byte-Sized Virtue season; if all goes
well, we’ll handle one a week, but if need be we’ll consider
multiple signs in a single episode.

This week offers a look at the sixth and seventh signs (we’ll
come back to the fifth later): “Not being aware that all the
gifts and qualities you have are on loan,” and “not acknowledging
that you are unworthy of all honour or esteem, even the ground
you are treading on or the things you own.”
