In this episode, Dr Jo van Herwegen, Professor of Developmental
Psychology and Education at University College London, tells us
what we know about strengths and weaknesses related to WBS. She
explains the importance of development, the 4 pillars of learning
and why pre-learning is so important for children with WBS. We talk
about how children and adults can learn how to manage money. She
also gives tips on what should be done to prepare for a transition
at school (change of school and/or teacher), how good communication
between school and home can be best achieved and why it is
important for parents to receive very brief feedback from school,
ideally every day. Of course, we also talk about genes and
neuromyths, about WiSDom, the first longitudinal database in Europe
for people with WBS and challenges and perspectives in research on
WBS. Be sure to tune in!
