Art of Suffering Show Notes - Episode 9
Fran Hampton was your average everyday American teenager in the
mid 1970’s. Dating a high school sweetheart and being in love she
suddenly found herself pregnant. With the advent of the 1973
Supreme Court decision of Roe vs. Wade she had an option not
available to other women only a few years earlier to choose
abortion. A devout Catholic and supported by family, she chose
the path less traveled and carried her unborn child to birth and
offered him to be adopted. Some thirty years later, providence,
prayer, and the Hand of God brought mother and son back together
and help mend wounds and inner doubts for mother and son after
the decision to let him have a better life with another family.
Adoption, the forgotten option, is a story of immeasurable love
displayed by a mother that during an unexpected pregnancy puts
her child’s needs above her own.
