My Friend Irma, is a media franchise that was spawned by a
top-rated, long-running radio situation comedy created by
writer-director-producer Cy Howard. The radio show was so popular
in the late 1940s that its success escalated the films, television,
a comic strip and a comic book that comprise the franchise. Marie
Wilson portrayed the title character Irma Peterson on radio, in two
films and the television series. The radio series was broadcast on
CBS from April 11, 1947 to August 23, 1954. Cathy Lewis plays Jane
Stacy Irma's roommate from 1947 until early 1949 and quit the show
due to an illness. Then Ms Joan banks played Jane and then played
later by Ms Mary Shipp until 1953. Jane's boyfriend Richard
rylander played by Leif Ericson and he is a very successful
businessman but unfortunately Irma's boyfriend Al played by John
Brown is a bum who is a very unsuccessful businessman he tries a
variety of get rich quick schemes that never work out. He becomes
very dependent on Irma to be a big success. So he can mooch off
Irma's money. Today's episodes the first one is called the lucky
couples contest when Irma is going to be joining Jane for lunch she
and Jane are looking at the bridal gown store and Irma is daydream
about her wedding day with Al so Jane helps Irma write to a radio
contest.And the second episode is called billy boy. Also in the
show is Hans conreid who plays professor kropotkin and Alan Reed
who plays Irma's boss Mr. Clyde and finally Landlady Ms. O'Riley
