hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy old time radio
podcast and please welcome to the show this afternoon Ms mercedes
mcambridge. Ms mccambridge well know for her proformance on the big
screen in such movies as johnny guitar. the giant and many others.
Mcambridge won an academy award for best supporting actress in The
1949 movie All The kingsmen. but what a lot of people may not know
is that she also appeared behind the microphone in such shows as
suspense lights out intersect and mysteries the Whistler and before
retiring CBS mystery radio theater. but also what a lot of people
may not know is that she also brought her old time radio
performance to the 1973 horror film The exorcist playing the voice
of the demon pazuzu which possess the 12 year old girl Reagan in
that movie. but today we bring Ms mccainbridge to the show to
reenact three episodes guaranteed to chill our spines. in this
first episode she plays a married woman who is waiting frantically
for her husband to come home she knows her husband is late but it's
still waiting for him to come to the door. and she's waiting in
their bedroom upstairs she sees her husband's car turn in the
driveway as she reads a sigh of relief she runs down the stairs.
but unfortunately her husband is not at the door it is a strange
man. and the title of that episode is called murder comes at
midnight it is from the inner sanctum mystery radio show. in the
second episode she plays a young writer who is writing a script for
Mr Arch obler and his radio show with a co-worker. but the two
women end up getting locked in the script room. and then the lights
go out and their minds begin to wonder if there is someone going to
kill them. and the title of that episode is called murder in the
script department it is from the lights out program and in this
final episode also from the lights out radio show it is called it
happened in this episode she plays a young woman who is exploring
Paris France with a group of young girls but for Gene Taylor who
has the wealthy father. she wants to explore the real unadulterated
pairs and get her into quite a jam with two very unstable men. one
wants her fathers money to get payment for her father ruining him
in business and the other man is a old man who lives in the sewers
of pairs and has a horrifying hobbies. I hope you guys enjoy Ms
