hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy old time radio
podcast please welcome to the show this morning to chill our spines
Mr Edward G Robinson was a Romanian American actor of stage and
screen during Hollywood's Golden Age. He appeared in 30 Broadway
plays and more than 100 films during a 50-year career and is best
remembered for his tough-guy roles as gangsters in such films as
Little Caesar and Key Largo. but what a lot of people may not know
is that Mr Edward G Robinson also appeared behind the microphone in
such shows as suspense lux radio theater and many others. but today
Mr Robinson reenacts two of his suspense performances. in this
first episode he plays a man who has been a bachelor for so many
years since his mother passed away. that he has made people believe
that he is married to a beautiful woman named Geraldine. and it is
called my wife Geraldine and in the second episode Mr Robinson
plays a married man who is just a local truck driver and stops at a
bar to get himself a drink before returning home. when all the
sudden him and his wife start arguing about money he tries to calm
himself down by listening to the radio. but his wife does not like
it when all the sudden he turns the radio back on he hears a news
broadcast about his death. but his wife does not believe it and
neither does he. when a detective calls the house his wife answers
the phone and believes it to be a prank. but when they're beloved
friend and lawyer calls the house. and tells her that he has over
$10,000 in life insurance benefits and that she is his beneficiary
if he passes away. but he's not dead so she has a plan for them to
get the money if he leaves for about 6 months she'll call him with
more details. but the separation takes longer than he was
expecting. so he calls his wife and he hears a man in the
background and realizes that his marriage is over. and it is called
