Astrophysicist in the Department of Mathematics, Physics and
Electrical Engineering at Northumbria University. She has
published widely on solar radiative transfer, solar seismicity,
and the role of sun cycles in climate on Earth and throughout the
solar system. Our conversation explores all of these topics in
depth and ends abruptly in an emotionally charged discussion
about the material basis for the blackbody spectrum at the
