Daniel Joachim Kleiven is a philosopher and economist with a
fondness for Aristotle and St. Thomas who we found through a
recent IAI article entitled “The Laws of Nature Explain Very
Little.” In it, Joachim makes an argument that mathematics are a
poor substitute for true understanding, and so cannot be
considered ground truth of the universe. We discuss the
philosophical path that brought him to this realization, the long
history of people agonizing over this question, and what he
suggests we replace mathematics with. Tell us what you think in

studying bioelectricity at Columbia University. When not talking
to brilliant people or making movies, she spends her time
painting, reading, and guiding backcountry excursions. Shilo also
did his PhD at Columbia studying the elastic properties of
molecular water. When he's not in the film studio, he's exploring
sound in music. They are both freelance professors at various
universities. - Blog: http://DemystifySci.com/blog - RSS:
