Coal for Jersey Joe (Part 3) (Christmas Episode)

Our Christmas story concludes as Jersey Joe Walcott finds his
"angel" in the unlikely form of a local gangster. He has had
promises before but never one that comes with a basement full of
coal. Can Felix Bocchicchio convince desperate Arnold Cream,
supporting a family of eight, to come out of retirement and try
to make it big in boxing for the sixth time. The world of racial
oppression has changed with Joe Louis as the reigning world
heavyweight champion since 1937, but how much? 

The world champion has cleaned house of all the previous
title-holders and has gone on tour only to have these series of
fights labelled the "Bum of the Month Club". Vultures begin to
circle. Does Joe Louis have a weakness? During the war Jersey Joe
scratches out a sparse living working in the famous New Jersey
shipyard and Joe Louis has to put his title defences on hold to
become a real-life Captain America. Back home tragedy
strikes. 

As we catch up with time what is the state of the heavyweight
contender situation?
