"Your pain in my heart" - It's not a likely quote to see flying
around the self-protection subculture and industry, but when it
comes to better managing potential violence such thinking makes a
world of difference. On this episode Australia's Joe Saunders of
the "Managing Violence" podcast discusses the role of empathy in
de-escalation ahead of his international tour of England and
Switzerland along with a range of other related subjects. We also
delve into areas not commonly covered in self-protection circles
such as dealing with violent relationships in the workplace,
extended family and at home. I also got an opportunity to discuss
a regular elephant in the room - the timidity of martial arts
students.
