In this episode, we continue our exploration of the application
of the Brainspotting modality.

Our guest, Dr. Melanie Young, discusses brain injuries, symptoms,
and interventions.

We are left with a sense of hope that, through collaborative
efforts provided by what we refer to as “allied providers”,
people who have experienced brain injuries can successfully heal.

Brainspotting is a modality discovered by Dr. David Grand. Please
visit www.brainspotting.com to learn more.

Here are the six mantras from this episode:

Mantra #1: Head injuries are often invisible (unable to be seen
on the scans).

Mantra #2: (If symptoms persist or get worse), don’t wait too
long to see out further information, such as neuropsychology
testing.

Mantra #3: People who have experienced brain injury need extra
support (at home, at school, at work).

Mantra #4: Watch for problematic symptoms such as withdrawal,
apathy, low mood, irritability, etc.

Mantra #5: Neuroplasticity offers hope to anyone who has suffered
from a brain injury (see Dr. Norman Doige’s The Brain that
Changes Itself).

Mantra #6: Brainspotting (and other modalities offered by “allied
practitioners” does not promise “miracles” but it does offer a
new better normal for the person who has experienced a brain
injury.
