In TCM, the term 发物 or 'stimulating' foods refers to certain
types of foods that can trigger or worsen illness. Based on your
body type and condition, your physician might ask you to avoid or
minimize the consumption of such foods during your treatment. In
this episode, we talk about what some of these foods are, why
they can trigger or worsen illness and whether or not you should
really be avoiding them.

1. Heat generating foods: onion, garlic, chives, ginger, pepper,
lamb, beef

2. Wind generating foods: shellfish, prawn, crab, goose, eggs

3. Damp-heat generating foods: malt sugar, glutinous rice, fatty
meat, milk, yogurt

4. Cold generating foods: watermelon, pear, persimmon, salads,
tea
