Museums and Libraries (2015 Event)

Beschreibung

vor 10 Jahren

Museums and galleries dominate as destinations, attracting record
numbers of visitors to blockbuster shows. Meanwhile libraries are
facing a funding crisis and are increasingly asked to justify
their existence. What can libraries learn from museums, and what
do they offer that museums cannot? Tony Marx, president of the
New York Public Library; Richard Sennett, professor of sociology
at the London School of Economics and Political Science and
author of books on culture and cities; and Clementine Deliss,
Independent Curator, debate the complementary and contrasting
roles of the cultural institutions at the heart of our public
life in this event chaired by Ken Worpole. Recorded live at the
Edinburgh International Book Festival.
