Brent Sutter - Islander Stanley Cups, Owning a hockey team and the important roles in the business.

You’ll find no family in the hockey community more steeped in
talent and tradition then the Sutters from Viking, Alberta. We
were thrilled to have Brent Sutter as a guest on the Top Cheddar
podcast.


Sutter played over 1,000 games in the NHL which included two
Stanley Cup wins with the Islanders and was an NHL All-Star as
part of his 18 year career with New York and the Chicago
Blackhawks. Add to that, three Canada Cup wins!


After stepping down from the NHL, Brent and his family purchased
the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL. Owning the team for over 20
years, he shared with us his view of how he must operate in his
various roles (Owner, GM, Coach) and the type of team he needed
to build around him.


Brent has enjoyed a long coaching career. Besides coaching the
Rebels, he has coached two World Junior Gold Medals (2005 &
2006), and coached the New Jersey Devils and Calgary Flames in
the NHL.
