Steve Young started his junior hockey journey with the For
Saskatchewan Traders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in
1986-87. He made his Western Hockey League debut that same
season with the Calgary Wranglers. When the Wranglers moved
to Lethbridge to become the Hurricanes in 1987-88, Young etched
his name in the record books, scoring the first goal in
Hurricanes history. During that season he was traded to the
New Westminster Bruins. Before the 1988-89 season started,
Young was on the move again, this time dealt to the Moose Jaw
Warriors.
He was selected by the New York Islanders in the 5th round
of the 1989 National Hockey League Draft. Young returned to
the WHL for his 20-year old season, he started in Moose Jaw, was
traded to the Prince Albert Raiders, was there for 10 games, then
moved to the Portland Winterhawks. After his time in
junior, Young went on to play four seasons with the University of
Alberta Golden Bears, winning Canada West 3 times and the
national championship in 1992.
After hockey he has built a very successful business career
including significant stops with the Edmonton Police force,
Alberta politics and post secondary education including NAIT,
MacEwan and the University of Alberta. Steve is currently a
special project manager with AIMCO, the Alberta Investment
Management Corporation.

Noah Welch was drafted in the second round of the 2001
National Hockey League Draft out of high school hockey in the
Boston (MA) area. Before going to professional hockey,
Welch played four years with Harvard University, and was captain
his final year. In fact, he is in the Harvard University
Athletics Hall Of Fame. He graduated from Harvard in 2005,
and began his pro career with Wilkes-Barre in the American Hockey
League, but made his NHL debut late that season with the
Penguins.
Welch played in North America for six seasons, playing with
Pittsburgh, Florida, Tampa Bay and Atlanta in the NHL. He
also spent time in the AHL with Wilkes-Barre, Rochester and
Chicago. Then it was off to play in Sweden, Welch played
seven seasons in the top professional league in that
country. Welch was able to play in the Olympics in his last
year, representing Team USA in the 2018 Olympic Games in South
Korea.

Kevin St. Jacques played five years in the Western Hockey
League. First with the Spokane Chiefs and then with the
Lethbridge Hurricanes. He was part of Eastern Division Champion
teams with the Hurricanes in 1990 and 1991. Kevin won the
WHL scoring title in the 1991-92 season, putting up 140
points. He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the
6th round of the 1991 National Hockey League Draft.
Kevin went on to play professional hockey for 15 years.
Now Kevin is the Premier Head Coach of the Carolina Junior
Hurricanes program in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Shawn Belle played 10 years of professional hockey,
including time with the Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens,
Edmonton Oilers and the Colorado
Avalanche. Belle was a 1st round selection
of the St. Louis Blues in the 2003 National Hockey League
Draft. The last four years of his pro career were spent in
Europe, three in Germany and one in Sweden. In
junior, Belle played in the Western Hockey League with
Regina and Tri-City. He was a part of Team Canada at the
World Junior Championships in 2004 (silver) and 2005 (gold).
Upon retiring, Belle has been very busy. He has
coached with Sherwood Park (AJHL), NAIT (ACAC), and OHA Edmonton
Elite 15’s. He’s also opened up a business called Seven
Hockey and trains athletes. Belle has also become
involved in the business of the game working for a player agency.
He’s an Associate Advisor Pro and Prospect Services for Link
Management International.

Terran Sandwith enjoyed a 12-year professional hockey career
(1992-2003), including time with the Edmonton Oilers in
1997-98. He was the Philadelphia Flyers 2nd round
selection in the 1990 National Hockey League Draft.
Sandwith played in various American Hockey League locations and
spent a year with the Canadian National Team and was able to
compete all over the world.
Near the end of his pro career, Sandwith went to Europe, playing
in Ireland, Finland and Austria. Prior to becoming a pro,
Sandwith spent a year in Junior B when he was just 14 years
old. He graduated to Junior A (Alberta Junior Hockey
League) at 15, then from 16-19 played in the Western Hockey
League with Tri-City, Brandon and Saskatoon.
During his time in professional hockey, Sandwith began working on
this education. He graduated with a degree in Business
Administration and Management in 2002 from York University, then
completed his Master of Business Administration from Queens
University in 2015. He is now the President of GS
Construction, a company that Terran’s father started in 1974.
