Episode 17 - Simon Lau and Otter.ai

Simon Lau, the Product Manager for Otter.ai invited me to their
office to do this podcast episode - it was great to meet in person
and this interview has got something for everyone. We covered a
really wide range of topics that started with Simon’s background
and long history in the tech world of the Bay Area and dove into
Otter.ai - the AI-powered app that is making life much easier for
capturing and indexing audio information. In the interview, I
mentioned that Otter.ai seems like a “quantum leap” in audio,
specifically, human language processing, and I mean it. If you
haven’t tried it yet for meetings, transcribing video content, or
just about any other speech-related use you should download it and
give it a spin (free for 600 minutes of use per month!). We also
discussed the use of both quantitative and qualitative metrics and
their use in business - an important distinction that can sometimes
get lost when we dive straight into the numbers. Check out the
