In this episode of Feedstuffs Precision Pork, Dave Bauer, senior
market analyst for Provimi, offers some hog market perspective
and market highlights for the week as well as provides things to
think about in the week ahead.
The hog market saw incredible swells this week, spurred by the
weather and a wild rumor of a case of African swine fever in
Iowa.
Exports were 12% of weekly pork production, with Mexico leading
sales, followed by Japan and then China.
Bauer recommends paying attention to the weather over the weekend
as it could greatly influence the market with drought continues
in some key areas.
Profitability, according to Bauer, looks to be around $65/head
for the next 30 days before dipping a bit. Take a listen to find
out more.
These are uncertain times, and it will pay dividends to be
well-prepared. If you have questions on this week’s recap or want
to discuss something not covered, feel free to ASK DAVE at
