It's Never Too Late: Finding Your Life's Mission After 40 with Ron Hoffman

If you had no experience doing something until your mid-40s,
would you think that thing would become your life’s calling


Well, that’s exactly what happened to Ron Hoffman.


After getting shot by his abusive father at just 10 years old,
getting into drugs as an adult and moving from relationship to
relationship and job to job, Ron had no clue taking a catering
job in Cape Cod, Mass., for a man named Gordon Heald would
completely change the outlook of his life.


In the summer of 1997, Gordon unfortunately developed ALS, or Lou
Gehrig’s disease, and he asked Ron to be his caretaker.


Knowing nothing about ALS, Ron accepted the job, and cared for
Gordon until he passed away the following year.


Ron carried on Gordon’s legacy with a foundation Gordon set up.


More than two decades later, Ron has taken what’s now called
Compassionate Care ALS nationwide, and the organization has
served more than 2,600 people.


Ron is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to showing compassion
and serving others, and if you work any job that involves
relationships - AKA every job - then you’re going to want to tune
in.
