Mark Maggiori: Contemporary Western Artist - Epi. 123, Host Dr. Mark Sublette

I had Mark Magggiori on today. Wow, really an interesting human
being. He's one of the best Western artists working today and I'm
a big fan of his artwork. This is a Western artist who has
150,000 Instagram followers. Yes, you read that correctly. Having
that many followers is kind of unheard of in the Western art game
but there's a definite reason though and that's that this guy has
an amazing background and can paint. 

He's the front-man for the French band Pleymo which was signed in
1997 by Sony records when he was only 20 years old and has sold
over 100,000 albums. He was a rockstar, but he followed his dream
which was to become a Western artist. He had this colossal
epiphany which is amazing when you think about it. Someone who's
trying to find their way, and they've been very successful mind
you, and then all of a sudden seeing one painting in the Western
Heritage Museum in OKC, Cowboy Hall of Fame makes a lightbulb
turn on. This majestic Jim Reynolds painting started Mark
Maggiori on an all-new journey into the depths of Western
art. 

Mark is a very animated guy, quite a few little curse words here
and there, but if you don't like that... well, you're going to
miss out on an amazing podcast. When you have somebody that's
passionate about what they're doing - it shows. For Mark Maggiori
it DEFINITELY shows. This is one of those great podcasts that
emphasizes why I do what I do.
