The Prayer of Jabez

Years ago, I discovered this little book, The Prayer of Jabez:
Breaking Through to the Blessed Life, by Dr. Bruce H. Wilkinson. It
was the #1 New York Times Bestseller. I was intrigued, so I
purchased and read it, with the promise that it would change my
life. Well, God did not grant me material blessings but rather a
heart for Jesus. That was life-changing and more precious than
gold! Jabez's prayer is mentioned in I Chronicles 4:10 (NIV). It
says, "Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would
bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and
keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God
granted his request. Everything in this prayer speaks to who God is
