Heroin Chic: The 90s Trend That Shouldn’t Come Back.
We are not sacrificing our health for a trend. Period, full stop.
Recently there was a New York Post article claiming: “Bye bye
booty, Heroin Chic is Back.” Since its release it’s been
targeting and marketed to fashion trends to bring back emaciated
features, dark under eye circles, and very pale skin.

People had some pretty strong feelings about the article,
understandably. As women we have been told one too many times
that our happiness & value lies in what we look like. Whether
it be “Slim Thicc” or “Heroin Chic”, the beauty industry thrives
off of our inability to love ourselves. Kelsea and Rachael are
here to say no, not now, not ever, is what we look like the thing
that determines our value in this world. Our body size has
absolutely no correlation to the wonderful qualities that we
bring to the table. We will fight this because we owe it to our
15 year old selves and the girls going forward to have a clear
path of self love.

Topics Discussed in Today’s Episode:

- The mindset behind gains in the fitness space as opposed to
other spaces
- New York Post article and other publications proclaiming
“heroin chic” is back
- Fashion trends targeting younger and more impressionable
demographics
- Tearing down women’s bodies for the sake of a trend
- The dangers of idolizing any one body type
- Trends from the 90s that shouldn’t make a comeback
- Offering an alternative to the trends to protect women and
girls
- Avoiding defense mechanisms that feed a harmful system
- How to cut down on harmful language
