Hartmut Fähndrich,  ist wohl der prominenteste Übersetzer
arabischer Literatur in die deutsche Sprache. Der
Islamwissenschaftler und Philosoph lebt in der Schweiz und
übersetzte mehr als 100 belletristische Werke, darunter
weltberühmte Autor:innen wie Alaa al-Aswani, Emil Habibi, Sahar
Khalifa und Nagib Machfus. Das Gespräch erläutert Probleme und

the problems and background of the rarely publicised work of
translators from Arabic. Hartmut Fähndrich, born in 1944, is
probably the most prominent translator of Arabic literature into
the German language. The Islamic scholar and philosopher lives in
Switzerland and has translated more than 100 works of fiction,
including world-famous authors such as Alaa al-Aswani, Emil
Habibi, Sahar Khalifa and Nagib Mahfouz. The conversation
explains the problems and background of the rarely publicized
