Streghe, scheletri, ragnatele, pipistrelli e zucche. Sicuramente
state preparando un sacchetto di caramelle, cioccolatini e dolci
per i bambini che fra poco suoneranno alla vostra porta e vi
diranno “Dolcetto o scherzetto!”

È arrivata la festa di Halloween e quindi dobbiamo prepararci anche
noi con questo podcast.

I bambini si travestono da fanstasmi, streghe e pirati e suonano
alle porte per avere le caramelle. Questa è una tradizione che
arriva dall’America, ma in realtà la festa di Halloween non è
americana.
Molti credono che sia una festa irlandese che deriva da una festa
molto antica chiamata “Samhain”, il capodanno celtico.
Questa festa segnava il passaggio dall’estate all’inverno e dal
vecchio al nuovo anno.
Si pensava che il 31 ottobre gli spiriti dei morti potessero
tornare sulla terra.

Caratteristica di questa festa è intagliare la zucca, che si chiama
Jack O’Lantern.

Da dove deriva il nome Jack O’Lantern? Un tempo c’era l’abitudine
di chiamare gli uomini, Jack, Tom o Dick ed in particolare gli
uomini appartenenti ad una classe povera si chiamavano Jack. Questo
