(1923-2015). Der kurdisch-türkische Schriftsteller Yasar Kemal
war einer der produktivsten und erfolgreichsten
kurdisch-türkischen Autoren weltweit. Allein sein Debutroman
"Mehmed der Falke" ist in über 40 Sprachen übersetzt. Als
Sozialist setzte er sich immer für die Menschenrechte ein. Das
Gespräch dreht sich um die Bedeutung des Gefängnisses für
türkische Schriftsteller und um die Freiheit der Literatur in der
Türkei.

Kürt-Türk yazar Yaşar Kemal, dünyanın en üretken ve başarılı
Kürt-Türk yazarlarından biriydi. İlk romanı “Şahin Mehmed” tek
başına 40'tan fazla dile çevrildi. Bir sosyalist olarak her zaman
insan haklarını savundu. Tartışma, cezaevinin Türk yazarlar için
önemi ve Türkiye'de edebiyat özgürlüğü üzerine odaklanıyor.

The Kurdish-Turkish writer Yasar Kemal was one of the most
productive and successful Kurdish-Turkish authors in the world.
His debut novel ‘Mehmed the Falcon’ alone has been translated
into over 40 languages. As a socialist, he always stood up for
human rights. The discussion centres on the significance of
prison for Turkish writers and the freedom of literature in
Turkey.
