On March 11, 2011, a massive earthquake and tsunami caused a nuclear crisis at the Fukushima Dai-ichi power plant. A year later, some lessons have been learned. According to a new report from the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), the U.S. could be doing more to ensure our nuclear power plants are safe. Worldview revisits Fukushima and discusses the state of nuclear power safety in the U.S. with Dave Lochbaum, director of the Nuclear Safety Project at UCS and co-author of the report. And on Global Notes, Jerome and 848 host Tony Sarabia check in with Matt Priest and Elizabeth Lindau of the Chicago indie band, Canasta. They just returned from a tour in Mongolia, sponsored by the U.S. State Department.
