The Syrian government’s relentless assault in Homs has produced a predictable reaction. Syria's main political opposition group has formed a military bureau to unify armed resistance to the government. The Syrian National Council says the bureau would bring armed groups under a central command and control the flow of weapons to avoid "chaos." Middle East scholar Joe Kechichian is in Beirut and tells Worldview what the situation looks like from the region. Also, one of the most influential First Amendment crusaders died last week.
