Day of the Lord

The story of God's destruction of Sodom in Genesis has at it's core
a central question, "Will God be just in his judgment?" This is a
question that has been asked throughout the ages in various forms.
Today we like to ask the question this way, "If God is just how
could he not save innocent people who have never heard of him?"
This story demonstrates that God is just in his destruction of the
wicked and merciful in his saving the righteous. So the bigger
question is how is one made just before God? There is a day coming
that is prefigured in this story on which all people will be judged
according to what their deeds deserve. This day should reinvigorate
the church toward urgent mission.
