Talks aimed at an enduring truce in Gaza continue in Egypt. The main issues are the years-long blockade for Hamas and total disarmament for Israel. In other regional news, U.S. airstrikes continue on the militant Sunni group ISIS, leaving many to wonder what are the next moves for the global powers, inside and outside of the region. We’ll talk about security and policy implications of Gaza and Iraq with Rashid Khalidi, professor of Arab studies at Columbia University. He recently penned an Op-Ed in The New Yorker magazine called “Collective Punishment in Gaza.”
And, on our EcoHeroes segment, we feature people who want to make the environment better. Today, we’ll talk with Rodger Cooley, director of the International Network for Urban Agriculture. Years ago, Cooley was a struggling artist when he decided to put to work his love and knowledge of landscaping, architecture and gardening for the benefit of all. Rodger wants to ignite, staring here in Chicago, a global urban agriculture movement and he’ll tell us how he plans to do it.
