U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, is getting behind sanctions on Venezuela for human rights abuses. But Reid finds himself with strange bedfellows - his Senate colleague, Marco Rubio, along with hawkish Conservatives, also support the move. At the same time, the White House and the U.S. State Department would like to normalize relations with the country that’s led by controversial president, Nicolas Maduro. David Smilde of the Washington Office on Latin America will help us sort through the policy confusion.
Then, film contributor Milos Stehlik talks to Steve James and Chaz Ebert about the new film, 'Life Itself.' The film tells the story of the late film critic Roger Ebert. James directed the documentary and Chaz is the widow of Roger Ebert.
And, every week, global citizen Nari Safavi joins us to tell us how to have an international weekend without leaving Chicago. This week, Mike Wilson joins us to tell us about a festival called Tour de Fat, and Raj Rajaram joins us to talk about a theatrical performance benefiting children in India.
