Shortly after midnight on June 6, 1944, Allied paratroopers were dropped behind enemy lines. At dawn, the main force started coming ashore at Normandy. Historian John Schmidt recalls that important turning point in history.
Then, The German city of Bremen has set a target of reducing its carbon emissions by 40 percent by the year 2020. Joachim Lohse, Senator for Environment, Urban Development and Transportation for the city of Bremen, tells us how they plan to do it and why they have made this a policy priority.
Next, A new exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago titled “Josef Koudelka: Nationality Doubtful” is a major retrospective of photographer Josef Koudelka. It features 170 photographs, including images of the 1968 Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia. Film contributor Milos Stehlik and photographer Josef Koudelka joins us to discuss the exhibition and Koudelka’s career.
