Over the weekend the U.S. agreed to release five senior Taliban figures in exchange for the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan nearly five years ago. The prisoner exchange has set off a heated political debate about whether the president has the legal authority to oversee such an exchange without first consulting Congress. We’ll discuss the case with attorney Marc Falkoff. He’s represented numerous Guantanamo prisoners.
Then, we'll discuss 'The Supreme Price,' a film about Nigeria’s pro-democracy movement that follows activist Hafsat Abiola. She was part of one of Nigeria’s most powerful political families. We’ll speak with the film’s director, Joanna Lipper and with Corinne Dufka, West African researcher for Human Rights Watch.
