The U.S. Ambassador to Russia says the U.S. will not recognize an upcoming Crimean referendum to join Russia. We'll get an update from Jeffrey Mankoff, senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
And a new report by the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack says there were hundreds of violent attacks on teachers, students and school buildings in the last five years alone. Diya Nijhowne, the group’s director, will detail some of the attacks.
In a recent interview, Pope Francis, speaking about the church sex abuse scandal said, “The Catholic Church is perhaps the only public institution to have acted with transparency and responsibility. No other has done more. And, the Church is the only one to be attacked.” John Thavis, author of The "Vatican Diaries", joins us for an update. Thavis hs has covered the Vatican for more than 30 years, many as Rome bureau chief for the Catholic News Service.
